2022 Christmas in Riverton

Join the Riverton Merchants and Vendors for an Old-fashioned Christmas Celebration!

December 2nd through December 4th, 2022

Friday Events – 5pm - 9pm

  • Candlelit Walk Through Town
  • Riverton General Store  will be open 5–9 pm, serving chili or New England clam chowder in a bread bowl.
  • Royal Coachman Tavern - serving burgers, pizza and more. Open until 10 pm; reservations highly recommended.
  • Holiday Shopping 5–9 pm: Gifts & more at the White House (vendors have requested CASH ONLY), Hitchcock Chair Company, Riverton General Store, Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept., Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio, Riverton Grange Hall, Orchard Hill Baking, Old Riverton Inn.
  • Festival of Trees 5–8:30 pm at the Riverton Grange Hall: Cast your vote for the best tree with a non-perishable food item or small donation for the Community Food Bank. Purchase raffle tickets and possibly take home your favorite tree. To benefit the Community Food Bank. 8:15 pm drawing for door prize at the Grange 1.
  • Roving Christmas Carolers.
  • Wine Tasting Tour 5-8 pm, provided by Ledgebrook Spirit Shop. Sponsored by the Barkhamsted Historical Society. A portion of the proceeds will be gifted to the Tiny Tim Fund. Adults over 21. Advance tickets on sale at the Riverton General Store/Old Riverton Inn during regular business hours. $30 CASH ONLY. Pick up glasses at the Grange 1, or purchase them there that night.
  • A Christmas Carol by the Riverton Theatre at 8 pm at the Riverton Congregational Church.
  • Bonfires behind the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept. and at the Riverton General Store.

Saturday Events – 10am - 8pm

  • Holiday Shopping 10–4 pm: Gifts & more at the White House (vendors have requested CASH ONLY), Hitchcock Chair Company, Riverton General Store, Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept., Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio, Riverton Grange Hall, Orchard Hill Baking, Old Riverton Inn.
  • Philomena’s Fried Dough 10 am –4 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Festival of Trees 10 am–4 pm at the Riverton Grange Hall. Tree raffle at 4 pm.
  • Children’s Craft Workshop 1–3 pm at the Old Riverton Inn. Make small gifts or ornaments with Recreation Department members. $5.00 fee. Crafts, cookies and cocoa provided!
  • Roving Christmas Carolers.
  • Gilbert the Pig 2–4 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Magician at 2 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides 11 am–2 pm at the Riverton Fairgrounds.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Claus and their Elves 12–3 pm at the Old Riverton Inn. Pictures with Santa.
  • Face Painting 12–2 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Norbrook Brewery 12–3 pm in the parking lot near Orchard Hill Baking.
  • Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” by the Riverton Theatre at 2 pm, 5 pm, and 8 pm at the Riverton Congregational Church.

Sunday Events – 10am - 5pm

  • Holiday Shopping 10–2 pm: Gifts & more at the White House, (vendors have requested CASH ONLY), Hitchcock Chair Company, Riverton General Store, Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept., Greenwood Glass Blowing Studio, Riverton Grange Hall, Orchard Hill Baking, Old Riverton Inn.
  • Touch a Truck/Fill the Boot Drive 10 am – 1 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Claus and their Elves 11 am – 2 pm at the Old Riverton Inn. Pictures with Santa.
  • Clifford the Big Red Dog 11 am – 2 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Roving Christmas Carolers.
  • Face Painting 10 am – 12 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Cookie Decorating 11 am – 2 pm at the Riverton Volunteer Fire Dept.
  • Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” by the Riverton Theatre at 2 pm and 5 pm at the Riverton Congregational Church.
